Within the Saw Collection, there has been six sequels of Saw since 2004, and this film being the last of it will defiantly become a must see for the target audience. This textual analysis will be focusing on this teaser trailer directed by Kevin Greutert, distributed by Liongate. This teaser trailer is 57 seconds, which is a ideal length of time as it is just under the 60 second mark.

The chief narrative focus of the mise en scene is the teaser trailer of the up and coming finale of Saw 3D: The Final Chapter. The teaser then starts off with a 'sudden' non diegetic sound and the logo of 'Liongate' with a black background, which will give the target audience a bit of a fright, connoting darkness and mystery, an aspect which could be portrayed within the film. The typography was formed in bold capital letters with flames as an outline, making the target audience more aware of the company distributing this up and coming film. This has only been shown for a second as this is just an quick introduction to the teaser trailer. The text then fades out and continues onto the narration, 'You can't hide;' this has been said in a deep and solemn voice, connoting fear as this will shaken the target audience, by getting their attention and keeping them alert. For those Saw lovers, they will then realise that this voice is of the main character, Jigsaw, Who is the ring leader of all these unfortunate traps.

This is a good aspect to use as it brings back certain elements from the previous series. A text then fades in, 'Every master craftsman;' which is seen in the same style in the previous text. This text is broken up into segments, which will be shown in different parts of the teaser, connoting impatience and anxiety, as the target audience will be wanting to know what happens next, keeping them more informed and alert as we have now caught their attention. While the narration is still commencing, a fade transition occurs presenting a car, that seems to be in some sort of garage. This is a close up shot which the camera them zooms into for at least a split second, and then zooms back out again very slowly. I have also noticed that their is somebody in the car and someone behind the rear end. This creates an enigma code as we don't know what the main purpose for this action is. Another split second flash has occurred of a face, making the target audience more aware of what may be in the film, or this just may be a special effect used to enhance the quality of the teaser. We come across a scream while this flash occurs; causing tension and fear on towards the audience, which again may frighten them or interest them, especially the love of slasher horrors.

After the flash, the blank screen then fades into a close up shot of a white woman. Her non verbal communication connotes that she is petrified and scared as she is seen struggling to maybe get out of some sort of trap. This is shot is relevant to the film as Jigsaw tries to trap and punish those who have done wrong, who as we know are the victims of his ‘games’. This then cuts to a medium shot of a white muscular man, who also seems as if he may be a victim as he is seen screaming and shouting, and his facial expression connotes that he is uncomfortable. This man is also seen in a car, connoting that he may have been seen previously in the first few seconds of the teaser. We also get a side view of the man which soon after switches to a direct shot, getting a better image of what the man looks like. The front window of the car is smashed, connoting danger to the man as this can harm him. This also makes the audience aware of the violence which will be exposed to them if they were to watch the film. Another cut has been made, showing a black man and a white man dangling from chains at a birds eye view. A green filter has been used in this scene, connoting grime and torture, as this sort of effect will be used in an asylum or a slaughter house, as they are often dull, dirty and unhygienic as various killings do happen in those settings.

So far we have seen three victims, and according to the voice over, each of these victims represent the main themes of ‘fear, suffering and death’. The scene then fades to an establishing shot showing a office building as we then cut to a busy rush hour, where people are possibily trying to get to work. This has probably been done to ease off the negetivity and dangerous aspects of the film, and also to show a little bit a narrative. Another flash occurs, showing a red and white spiral, connoting the character of Jigsaw. This could represent his existance, as we haven't yet seen him in the trailer.Jigsaw is known to have red and white spirals on his cheeks connoting darkness and mystery as we do not know what they are use for and what they symbolise. We then cut to a busy crowd as they could connote that they are waiting for something. On top of this, the narrator emphises the last couple words of 'And all its best geniuses save the best till last'. The non diegetic sound creates tension ans suspence making the last few words of the narration more rememberable, and get the target audience afraid of what may happen next. We then fade and pan right to a close up shot of a white man who is struggling to escape from a cage looking indirectly from the camera. Yet again, the green filter has been used creating that 'asylum' effect. A spotlight has been used on the man as he is trying to reach out for the key above him, giving the audience to see what he is doing and what he looks like. Diegetic sound has been used, as we can hear the rattling of the cage and the emotional screams making us know how terrified he is. It now looks like if he was to escape, he would be killed by the spikes underneath him. This idea has been incorprated in the text that follows on after, reading 'Witness' in bold capital letters evalaving forward as the spikes burst through. This specail effect has been used to attract the audience due to its style and theme of the trailer. This aspects has also been repeated, where we cut into a scene where a white woman is in a long shot hanging from the ceiling, as it is quiet difficult to see due to the lighing.

She is dressed in a purple night gown lit by the spotlight, as the focus is on her. The camera then dolly's through, giving that driving effect, as we cut into machine at a side view, medium shot driving into the woman. The front of the machine has a sort of sharp blade at the front, which is then seen again with the text sayin 'The final', connoting some form of message due to the previous text. The last scene is where a white man who has been shot at a medisum shot, but then cut to a close up shot when he is then trying to back off from a spinning blade. The only difference with this scene is that we have better lighting rather than the low key green filtered effect. Again this tool has been used in the text sayin 'Saw' with the effect of sparks cutting the 'W' in half. Last but not least, the effect of gears and metal, of which you would find inside a watch, is then zoomed out and then shows the title of the film 'Saw 3D', of which then the text start to shake and bursts out with the content of the gears and metal. This would connote the aspect of time, as Jigsaw uses time a lot in his 'games' to try and tease and tourture the victims. The screen is then cut with a blade, giving infomation with the release date, other captions and their sponsers, with blood running down the right hand side of the screen. The use of special effects have been used moderatly and not over the top, enhancing the quality of the teaser trailer, which will facinate the target audience more.
